The Late Elizabethan Gown

Another instance where the fabric inspired the gown.

This fabric wants to be a late Elizabethan gown. Complete with a stomacher, hanging sleeves, and maybe even a French farthingale.

The main fabric - a beige chenille on a gold antique satin ground.

My pitiful attempts at photography do not do the fabric justice. The fabric looks washed out in these pictures.

The above fabric was not an impulse purchase. I oogled it for almost a year before ordering 13 yards during one of Joanns 50% off decorator fabrics sales.

I also have some gold silk dupioni to line the hanging sleeves.

This is the gown that the above fabric wants to become.

Another attempt to photograph the fabric.

I have not started this gown yet.
