The Summer Outfit
This one is called the Summer outfit because it has two of DH's requests for hot, summer weather. Fabric that is cool to wear, which means as much linen as possible, and a light color that will reflect rather than absorb the sun's heat.

Linen / rayon blend with a leafy jaquard pattern. Reverse side.
Red / black silk dupioni. Slops underlay.
DH's choice of shoulder treatment and waist treatment.
Boning: 7mm x 1mm plastic whalebone from Farthingales but I may just try linen canvas and hair canvas instead.
Fastenings: buttons. I will probably use loop closures instead of buttonholes.
If I wait long enough, I will change my mind...
After messing around with Tudor Tailor patterns, I have come up with a hybrid of Tudor Tailor and Simplicity 5574. I will be using the Tudor Tailor wings and skirting.
The construction will consist of 4 layers: the fashion fabric, a layer of mid-weight linen, a layer of linen canvas, and another layer of mid-weight linen used as lining. I am going to skip the boning this time and there will be buttonholes.
And I am rethinking the use of silk and may just go with some linen in a similar color to the silk.
